외국인이 로컬수쿨 들어가기 어렵지만
차근차근 준비 잘 하면 못들어갈 이유도 없습니다.
제가 아는 학생도 올해에 NUS에 입학해서
8월에 기숙사로 보냈습니다만
그 학생도 처음 싱가폴 땅 밟을때는
NUS는 그저 꿈이나 꾸어볼 학교라고 말했었습니다.

싱가폴에서 국제학교를다녔었다하니 
공립시스템에 대해서는 잘 모르겠지만 
싱가폴이 낯설지 않고 국제학교를 다녔으니
영어를 잘 하는 장점이 있다고 생각하고 상담드리겠습니다.

케이스 바이 케이스입니다

*불과 몇 년전에 학생이 SAT 1600점으로 SMU에 합격 했습니다.
물론 6개월 영어 브릿지 코스를 밟는 조건으로....

*다른 학생의 경우는 SAT 1800점으로 떨어졌습니다
왜?  특목 다녀서 영어는 잘하는데 내신이 30명중 15등,

*다른 케이스는 대학 1학년 마치고 자퇴한 여학생이
SMU 지원해서 합격해서 학교 잘 다니고 있습니다.

싱가폴 국립대학 넘사벽 아닙니다.
가까이 하기엔 너무 먼 당신 아닙니다.
다만 방법을 몰라서 준비를 못하고 
준비를 못하니 적당히 분교로 진학하고
포기하니 못갈뿐입니다.

이번에 말레이시아 오레벨 시험 점수로
폴리에 수시접수해서 지난주 합격 레터 받은 학생에게
말해줬습니다.
최근에는 폴리 나와서 국립대 편입률이 매우 높아졌으니
점수 관리 잘해서 NUS나 NTU로 편입하라고 꿈을 주고 있습니다.

그 학생도 말했었습니다. 말레이시아 오레벨로 싱가폴 공립학교
못갈거라고... 걍 분교 가거나, 아니면 싱가폴에와서 다시 공부해서
GCE 오레벨이나 에레벨 시험 보겠다고....

올해 6월에 summer님이 게시판에 올려주신 싱가폴뉴스에 보면
주니어컬리지에서 폴리로 옮기는 학생들 증가한다는데 폴리에서도
국립대나 미국의 200여 대학교 편입 문이 열렸기 때문에
학생들이 편입을 해서 취업도 하지만 더 나은 대학으로 가기 위한
징검다리로 생각하는 겁니다.

SAT를 준비 하고 계시다면 지원해보세요
외국인 학생이 SMU에 지원하는 Qualifications에 대해서 나와있습니다.
SAT 는 Compulsory (필수)라고 되어 있습니다.
최고의 학생을 뽑겠다고 말하기는 하지만
전공 선택에 따라서 연관 과목이 B+이상 점수 필수지만
실제로 B+ 로는 약하겠지요.

NUS도 The Exceptional Individual Scheme (EIS) 10%
뽑습니다.  내가 가지고 있는 재능 장점을 최대한 활용해보세요

한국 학생이 SMU에 지원 할 수 있는 자격에 대한것 하이라이트로 올립니다.

학생도 마찬가지지만 부모도 자식의 진로를 위해서 최선을 다해서
정보를 알아보고 좋은 길로 갈 수 있도록 손 잡아 이끌어줘야 한다고
생각합니다.. 엄마니까, 부모니까.

한번 기회를 놓쳤다고 해서 다시 그 길로가는 방법이 없는 것은 아닙니다.
포기하지 말고 꼭 도전해보세요.

만약 대학을 한국에서 졸업하고 싱가폴국립대로 대학원 진학 원하신다면
동종계열의 대학원 입학은 그리 어렵지 않습니다.  물론 인기학과의 경우는
경쟁이 치열하지만... 지난해에도 한국에서 몇 분이 NUS 석사, MBA 과정 공부하러
오셨는데 공부는 그냥 따라 가겠는데 논문 통과가 쉽지 않다고 하소연하셨습니다.
한 마디로 들어가는 것은 많이 까다롭지 않으나 졸업은 쉽지 않다는
말씀이셨습니다....

INTERNATIONAL/OTHER QUALIFICATIONS

 

 

Applicants, regardless of nationality, with international high school qualifications or other (non A-Level/Poly/IB/NUS High School) qualifications. Applicants with A-level qualifications directly from UK (Cambridge, Edexel, AQA) should apply under this category. Applicants with Diplomas from LASALLE/NAFA/NIE that are acceptable for the purpose of admission may apply under this category.

SAT is a compulsory admissions requirement for applicants with international qualifications.
SAT is not compulsory for those with Diplomas from LASALLE/NAFA/NIE.

SMU’s practice of inclusive education ensures that applicants with disabilities or special needs will receive the same consideration as other applicants. SMU advocates for the rights of students with disabilities, and regards them as equal, integral and contributing members of the student body. Our online application for admission has a section that ask applicants to indicate if they have any disabilities or special needs. SUBMISSION OF SUPPORTING DOCUMENTS

After applying online, please submit the following to SMU at the address indicated below:

·     Photocopies of the relevant supporting documents. Please do not submit original copies. Supporting documents must be submitted timely. SMU cannot process your application without these documents.

·     Application fee of S$15. Please click here for the various payment methods.

Typical supporting documents include the following:

·     Checklist Summary. This page will be displayed on your computer screen when your online application has been submitted successfully.

·     NRIC for Singapore Citizens; NRIC and Passport Particulars Page for Permanent Residents; Passport Particulars Page and Singapore Student Pass for Non-citizens.

·     Secondary school examination results (For example, GCE O-Level results, Year 10 results or equivalent)

·     High school examination results (actual, forecast or predicted, whichever is applicable)

·     University results, if any.

·     SAT scores / ACT (including the writing test) results

·     TOEFL, IELTS or MUET results, if applicable

·     Other accredited examination results (For example, SAT Subject Tests / AP / ACT / GMAT), if any
