How are students selected for admission to SOTA?
The primary criterion for admission to SOTA is artistic talent demonstrated at the Talent Academy (TA) where students will have to undergo live auditions, personal interviews and portfolio reviews with a panel of highly regarded and experienced educators and arts specialists from SOTA faculty as well as resource persons from Singapore and overseas.
During the audition, a student’s potential is taken into account as well as his or her artistic talent.
Each successful participant would have been recommended for admission to SOTA by the panel of specialists.
What are the academic requirements for entry to SOTA?
Upon receiving a confirmed offer after the Talent Academy (TA), Primary 6 applicants applying through the DSA-Sec exercise are required to qualify for the Express stream, based on their results in the Primary School Leaving Examination (PSLE) for that year.
Candidates applying for Direct Transfer to SOTA should currently be in the Express stream. For those who qualify for consideration based on their performance at the TA, their academic performance in their current school will be taken into account for admission
Current Secondary 4 students (Express) / Secondary 5 Normal (Academic) students taking the 'O' levels seeking admission to SOTA Years 5 & 6 Programmed must demonstrate strong sustained outstanding artistic talent and an excellent secondary school academic track record.
Returning Singaporeans and international students who qualify for consideration based on their performance at the TA will be required to pass the SOTA Entrance Examination during the TA. This comprises a Writing Exercise and a Mathematics assessment.
When will I be notified of my Talent Academy (TA) results?
DSA-Sec cases: early August
DSA-JC cases: end July
Transfer cases: about 1 month after audition
