대학마다 각각 다른 입시 정책 때문에 혼동하는 수험생들...

      MIT는 2022년 3월 28일에 SAT I 과ACT 시험을 계속 반영 하겠다고 발표 했습니다. 하지만 캘리포니아 대학 이사회는 2020년 5월 21일에 SAT I 과 ACT 시험은 더 이상 필수 조건이 아니며 2022년과 2023년에는 SAT I 과 ACT 시험 점수를 받지 않겠다 라고 발표했습니다. 또한 2024 년까지 자체 시험 시스템을 개발할 것이라고 발표했으나 아직까지는 진행 과정에 대한 어떠한 정보도 알려지지 않고 있습니다. 이런 대학들의 제 각각의 입시 정책들의 문제점은 코로나가 끝나고 다시 평상화 되면 어떤 상황이 될지를 지켜 보고 있다는 것입니다.
      그러나 학생들의 입학 시험은 여전히 확실하지 않고 피할 수 있는 방법이 없다는 것이 현재의 문제입니다. 올해 또는 그 이후에 SAT I 및 ACT 시험을 보지 않으려면 대부분의 대학들이 보편적인 입시정책을 발표해야 하는데 그렇게 하고 있지 않기 때문에 학생들이 입학전형에서 원하는 대학들에 지원하기 위해 어쨌든 시험을 치러야 한다는 것을 의미합니다. 한 가지 전략은 SAT I 또는 ACT 점수를 보내지 않고 University of California 학교에 지원 한 다음 SAT 1 이나 ACT 점수를 신청서에 적어 다른 대학교에 보내는 것입니다. 또 다른 전략은 SAT 1 이나 ACT 점수를 받지 않는 대학들에만 원서를 보내는 것입니다. 위의 전략은 향시 그 대학들의 입학 조건이 어떻게 바뀌고 있는지 주시해야 하여 학생들은 결과가 발표 될 때까지 끊임없는 노력이 필수라는 것입니다.

      MIT announced March 28th 2022 that it will resume use of SAT and ACT scores in its admissions. However, the University of California Board of Directors announced May 21, 2020 that it suspended the requirement for students to take the SAT I and ACT tests for 2022 and 2023, that it will not accept SAT I or ACT scores at all. The University of California Board also announced that it will develop its own testing system by 2024 admissions year, although no confirmation announced how that project progresses. The problem with this policy is that such a change in testing requirements is not across the board, with some universities and colleges taking a wait-and-see approach for when the Covid-19 pandemic will end and we go back to "normal."
      For students, however, admissions testing for the SAT I and ACT is still a clear and present issue with no easy way to avoid the challenge. The lack of a universal policy among all or most all universities to suspend SAT I and ACT testing for this year and beyond means that students will be forced to take the tests anyway, in order to apply to a band of universities possible in their admissions profile. One strategy may be to apply to University of California schools without sending SAT I or ACT scores, and then to apply to other universities with such scores sent and shown in the applications. Or, students may select universities to apply to with only those that have confirmed they will not require admissions tests. That latter strategy will require constant checks on those universities to see if their testing policies will or have changed. This ultimately results in more vigilance and work for students, however.
