Hey Sports fans!
If you're having that 'itchy-leg' feeling from watching football on TV, we have good news! Singapore is home to many football fanatics and it's no surprise that futsal is really popular here!
With it's smaller size, and jam-packed with action, futsal grew to become one of the most beloved sports - and you'll never find it hard to get a group together to play a 5-a-side game!
Let's find out how to play football in Singapore!
Note : With the current COVID situation, courts are limiting play to 5 people per game, so do take note before booking a session!
1. Kovan Sports Centre
If you're living in the North East (Serangoon, Hougang), or around the central in general (Bishan, Ang Mo Kio), consider Kovan Sports Centre!
One of our favourites spots for its competitive rates - if you're a student, you can book the court at ONLY $30/HOUR!!
One of Kovan Sports Centre's many generous promos!
Also available is a water soccer court, which is really popular among kids. The centre is also home of many academy training sessions, and is a popular spot for corporate team-building events like bubble soccer!
The astroturf-like ground has seen better days, but is still very playable - even without football boots!
2. The Cage
If you've lived in Singapore, or are Singaporean, you'd have heard of The Cage.
A legendary place for sports-lovers and weekend warriors alike, The Cage is Singapore's very first indoor football stadium - which means it has a devout following of football-lovers that go there every week!
If you're looking to find football fanatics and friends, here would be your best bet!
It almost has a community-like vibe to it, making it a great place for those of you who truly 'live football'.
3. SkyPark Arena
Live in the West? Don't worry, we didn't leave you out!
SkyPark Arena is decked to the hills with premium football equipment - its pitches are FIFA-standard, their goal posts being the same model as the Singapore National Stadium, and its netting being the same ones used in the World Cup!
Talk about living out your Ronaldo dreams!
It even features shower facilities and a karaoke and video game lounge to wind down after an intense round of footy!
Having played there before, we can attest that it's truly one of the best places to play football in Singapore!
4. Stadio @Rooftop
We left the coolest for last - you all know about Tanjong Pagar, Singapore's Koreatown (and home to many of our featured restaurants), but do you know you can actually PLAY futsal at one of the rooftops?
Stadio is located at the rooftop of the Amara Hotel, one of the finest 4-star hotels in Singapore. It features a different style of pitch as the ones we featured above - that of a more European style, boarded pitch that you see in official futsal tournaments.
If you fancy a kickabout after work, we would recommend Stadio for it's great location - not to mention, it's just about the PERFECT spot to flex on your Instagram feed!
One down side is that prices are a tad on the high side (as you'd expect from a rooftop pitch), with rates ranging from $120-$140 an hour.
Next time you're in the area, look up! You might just see a ball flying above the Tanjong Pagar skyline!
That does it for our guide to the BEST futsal courts in Singapore!
We hope this helped in organizing the perfect kickabout session.
Play on!
