517 new COVID-19 cases, 15 In Community...

Singaporeans were both excited, yet nervous for the start of Phase 1, which saw the return of crowded morning commutes, enhanced mask policing efforts as well as hopes of 'normal' activities resuming. However, it was reported that 517 new COVID-19 cases happened - but should we panic? Let's look deeper into the figures.

Of the 517 new COVID-19 cases, the majority are confirmed cases from the ongoing tests on migrant workers living in dorms. Thirteen of the 15 new COVID-19 community cases reported in Singapore yesterday (Thursday, 4th June)  live in a shophouse on Veerasamy Road with an earlier confirmed case, said the Ministry of Health (MOH). They have since been placed in quarantine.

Only time will tell if this is the start, but we're hoping that Singapore and the world successfully transitions to a state of a 'new normal'.

The new infections take the total number of cases in Singapore to 36,922.
