A local broadcaster has revealed the face of a three-year-old girl who was found dead last month at an empty home in Gumi, North Gyeongsang Province.

About a month after a 22-year-old woman had been arrested in relation to the death of the three-year-old, the case took a twist last Thursday with a DNA test showing her not to be the child's biological mother who was, in fact, the woman who was originally thought to be the girl's grandmother.

After the shocking news came out, an investigative TV program team with local broadcaster MBC uploaded a video showing photos of the baby girl, saying it is waiting for further reports from anybody who knows anything about the whereabouts of another child, born to the 22-year-old woman on March 30, 2018, at a local hospital in Gumi.

Police suspect the 22-year-old woman and her 48-year-old mother each gave birth to babies around the same time and the elder woman switched the babies. The elder woman has also been arrested for abandoning the child and causing her death, but claimed she had not given birth to a baby, saying the DNA test was false.

Police said the National Forensic Service conducted the DNA test several times with the same result. With the whereabouts of the 22-year-old's real daughter still unknown, police are looking for the missing child and the biological father of the dead girl.
