The Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development(OECD) has raised its growth outlook for South Korea for this year by half a percentage point to three-point-three percent.
Revising up its economic outlook from December on Tuesday, the OECD cited an expected increase in U.S. output on the back of a significant stimulus package, which would in turn ramp up the growth of its trade partners.
The OECD expects the U.S. economy to grow six-point-five percent this year, more than doubling from its previous estimate of three-point-two percent.
In raising its outlook for South Korea, the OECD also cited a continuing improvement in exports and the government's stimulus measures.
If the South Korean economy grows as expected by the OECD, it would be one of the few countries returning to pre-pandemic levels.
The OECD's outlook is higher than the three-point-two percent forecast by the South Korean government and three-point-one percent predicted by the International Monetary Fund.
