Straight out of a sci-fi movie,
Incheon International Airport has signed
an agreement with giants Hyundai and KT
to work on the Urban Air Mobility project.
South Korea plans to commercialize drone taxis,
capable of travelling between Incheon Airport
to the Seoul financial district of Yeouido in 20 minutes.
This would mean cutting down long travel
times upon arrival to Korea, for tourists and
business travellers alike.
For example, it can take about an hour
to go from Incheon Airport to Yeouido
by train or bus.
Under this arrangement, Hyundai Motor
will develop the drones, Hyundai's E&C will
build the infrastructure required for the
new airport, while KT will be in charge
of Urban Air Mobility Communications.
We hope to see these vehicles in the
skies of Korea soon, and hopefully
catch a ride on it after the coronavirus!
