Chowon Garden
A continuation of our first Chowon review, this time focusing on the more
Korean dishes on the menu. These are the dishes that Koreans come looking for
at Chowon Garden, dishes that are hard to find in Singapore that remind them of home.
[Chowon]
About a two to three minute walk from Tanjong Pagar MRT, the green logo on the nicely aged entrance are distinct and inviting. What separates Chowon from the rest of the Korean restaurants in the Tanjong Pagar area is the aura of history and experience.
[Chowon Garden Interior]
There are grilling tables on the outside and in the private dining rooms as well. It is a nice and simple layout, providing all the necessary elements for a cozy meal.
[Soy Sauce Crab]
First dish Koreans love at Chowon is the soy sauce crab. In my personal opinion, I think soy sauce crab is the most sought after dish when Koreans go to a Korean restaurant. It is not easy to replicate at home and that makes the dish very valuable for a Korean restaurant.
[juicy]
Seeing the meat pour out of the crab is a sign that it's fresh. The owner's special now-how method of storing the crabs ensures that his crab dishes are fresh and ready to serve.
[Soondae Soup]
Secondly is Soondae Soup. This dish may not be very well known outside of Korea, but to Koreans it is a street food classic. It is very hard to find outside of Korea because of its niche ingredients and cooking method, but Chowon really does it right!
[Healthy]
From the presentation to the taste, they really made it like back in Korea.
[Beef Rib Stew]
Third is a dish everyone can recognize and enjoy Korean Stewed Beef is super tender, and the broth is to die for. The broth when mixed with rice will make your rice disappear. Tender beef and succulent soup is the result of over a decade of trial and error by Chowon's owner and chef.
[Beef Rib Stew]
I didn't have the biggest expectations, but the beef stew really blew me away. Thanks to the perfectly cooked meat and vegetables, my rice was gone in no time. If you're looking for a simple yet satisfying meal, try Chowon's stew.
[Enjoy with Chowon]
What are you waiting for? Enjoy a wholesome Korean meal with your friends and family
