G-Dragon’s $4,000 Nike Shoes

Move over Kanye, there’s a new icon in the sneaker game - South Korean megastar and fashion icon, Kwon Ji-Yong (G-Dragon)! Merely 10 days after his discharge from South Korea’s mandatory military service, G-Dragon took to social media to announce his brand new collaboration with Nike, the Air-Force 1 ‘Para-Noise’. adorned with the star’s signature daisy motif. 

The shoes hold a feature reminiscent of designer shoes from years past - its paint wears off over time to reveal colorful artwork personally created by GD himself! We really like this concept of having shoes that look better as they age, which gives a reason to really ‘live out’ the sneaker - and Korean celebrities agree!

The shoes are already seen on the feet of Park Shin Hye and EXO’s Suho - with many more jumping on the ‘reverse shoelace’ trend inspired by the shoe. To say GD is a trend-setter is an understatement, and we are sure to see this trend spread outside of Korea and into the global fashion scene! 

October 26 saw the launch of the Korea-exclusive Para-Noise (with a red swoosh instead of a white one on the general releases), to much fan-fare. Last sold for just under USD4,000 on popular sneaker resale platform, StockX, the shoes were initially sold out in less than 10 minutes - which speaks to the initial popularity of the sneaker! 

Following this, the global general release for the Nike Air Force 1 Para-Noise is on 23rd November, so if you’re interested in copping a pair, keep your eyes peeled!
