After 3 years of laying dormant,

South Korea finally retakes its throne

by winning one of e-sports' most

prestigious titles - the League of Legends

World Championship!

Since 2017, no Korean team has made it

into the finals of one of the biggest

tournaments in the world, but that all

changed when Damwon Gaming made

the finals after an impressive run.

Chinese teams won the 2018 and 2019

championships, but before that,

Koreans managed to clinch the title

5 years in a row.

In the resulting finals that happened

on Saturday, it was up to Damwon to

face China's Suning Gaming in Shanghai,

in a clash of stories and nationalities.

Over 100 million people tuned in around

the world, and watched as a hard-fought

series of games resulted in a 3-1 victory

for the South Koreans.

They win a big chunk of the final

prize pool, slated to be around the

region of $7 million.
