SM Entertainment, the agency that
arguably 'led the Hallyu Wave' with
classic acts like H.O.T, golden age
artists like SNSD and Super Junior,
and modern superstars like Red Velvet!
However, the industry trialblazers they are
no one could predict their latest move -
starting a girl-group (their first in 6 years)
consisting of both human and virtual members!
Named Aespa, the four-member
girl group combines virtual artists
with traditional human(?) idols, producing
an incredibly innovative and unique
approach towards K-Pop!
The members are being officially
revealed slowly, but have been known
to be Winter, Karina, Aeri and Ning Ning,
with two members being from international
descent (Japanese and Chinese).
Their official Youtube channel already
has a video of member Karina introducing
herself along with her avatar self,
dubbed æ-Karina!
What do you think of this new
concept - is it the future of K-Pop,
or do you think that it won't catch
traction like more traditional means?
