Mitsu Sushi Bar, housed cozily at Duxton Road, hosted a once in a lifetime treat by combining delighful Japanese cuisine with the finest sakes. The sakes were presented by a family member of the winery that produces all the sake present at the event. We were lucky enough to attend thanks to the extended invite from Ms. Choi, the elegant manager and sake sommelier at Mitsu Sushi.
What's the difference between good and bad sushi? It can be quite hard to discern as firstly, good sushi requires the hands of a masterful experienced chef. Mitsu Sushi's Chef Jacky, with 26 years of experience under his belt, crafts the finest sushis with ease. I felt that after trying his sushi once, I could never go back to "fast food" sushi restaurants.
Here is a recap of the Omakase menu sake pairing event hosted at Mitsu Sushi.
[Omakase, leave it to the chef]
Imported directly from Japan, the Yasakaturu sake served at the event was given a very special introduction. Flying all the way from Japan for this special collaboration, the head brother of the 3 siblings that run the Yasakaturu Sake family business was at the event to verify the quality.
The meal was divided into 6 courses.
Mozuku Seaweed
Egaohyakuyaku Junmai Daiginjyo
Tamago Tofu with Japanese Fruit Tomato
Kamenoo Junmai Daiginjyo
Sashimi
Kamenoo Kurabu Junmai
Simmer Pork Jowl
Matsuri Kurabu Yahamai Junmai
Sushi & Asari Clam Miso Soup
Matcha Warabi Mochi
*The event was invite-only for paying customers*
