Korea Fears Second Wave
South Korea, having at first eased restrictions on both business and daily life early this month, has seen a rise in cases for the week.
With a reported 79 new cases on Wednesday, it marked the first time in three weeks where the daily case count went above the Korean government's set limit of 50.
South Korea asked people in the Seoul Metropolitan Area to stay at home starting Thursday as new clusters, mainly that of a warehouse operated by Coupang Corp located in Bucheon, raised concerns about a second wave. The warehouse cluster appears linked to an outbreak that started in Itaewon.
Museums, parks and art galleries will be closed again from Friday for two weeks (until 14th June), while companies were advised to re-introduce flexible working arrangements, among other safety measures.
We hope that Korea manages to curb infections and fight off the dreaded second wave!
